Every Partner Counts: Million Moms Challenge

Back in the spring of 2011 we met Teri Whitcraft, an ABC producer spearheading a series of global health programs, which included a Diane Sawyer special on maternal health that aired last December: “Giving Life, A Risky Proposition.” Teri shared Every Mother Counts’ goal of calling upon people to combat the global tragedy of maternal mortality. She helped ABC to launch the Million Moms Challenge, an effort to mobilize moms across the country on this issue, and encourage mothers to take action throughout the year. Enter the United Nations Foundation who had the capacity to take that passion and interest, and continue to channel that momentum. Our friends at the United Nations Foundation have taken the Million Moms Challenge and developed it into an amazing resource for women across the country who are interested in these critical issues. Under the leadership of Chrysula Winegar (who is a dear EMC friend and even ran a half marathon for EMC this year!), the campaign has continued to build support and energy from moms everywhere. We are thrilled to work alongside the Million Moms Challenge to achieve our shared missions.
