Every Partner Counts: Partners in Health

Partners in Health (PIH) is one of those groups in the humanitarian space that people just KNOW. We have long admired their commitment to health and their conviction that people everywhere deserve a certain standard of care. But it was a special experience to get to travel to Haiti this January, on the 2 year anniversary of the earthquake, with Paul Farmer, one of the organization's founders and a friend, and his team, to SEE firsthand what this model is really all about. Imagine that every human being, no matter where they are born, no matter how much they earn, is actually equal. That's what you get to see when you see PIH in action. You see every individual treated with the same dignity and respect that everyone deserves. Once you see the level of care put into every aspect of their model you want to be a part of it.

One of the many parenting skills Partners In Health community health workers teach new mothers is elective bottle feeding to prevent HIV transmission.

Pretty simply helath care is more than extremely expensive. Just routine testing which should be done on a yearly basis is very necessary in preventative care and at the same time very expense without helath care insurance coverage. I work in a Laboratory and do the billing. It's incredible! Even if you have a helath care plan that requires such things as deductibles and co pays and employee contribution, it still is worth every penny when you are ill and need medical treatment. Of course there are a ton of variety of plans out there that cater to different needs. Therefore it is always wise to do your research if your employer gives you options in helath care plans to choose from.
