Innovative Generosity

We are so grateful to those of you who participated in May’s “Every Action Counts” efforts. So often, we receive emails inquiring how one can help Every Mother Counts. We point out our “Take Action” page but are always open to new, creative ways for involvement. A few people came up with unique ways to participate and added their personal touch to make a difference. We’d like to highlight their originality and hope it might inspire others.

One Every Mother Counts supporter attended a Kentucky Derby party at a friend’s home. The guests wore grand Derby hats and had a proper bidding board, perhaps even a mint julep or two. Everyone placed their bets for Win, Place, or Show, and half of the money raised went directly to the winner’s charity of choice. Our EMC supporter, Ellie Badanes, enjoyed watching her horse Bodemeister place second in the race. This Derby charity event was a creative opportunity to share information regarding the impact of maternal mortality in today’s world.

Our greatest thanks to Ellie, founder of The Pajama Company, for her generous donation to Every Mother Counts. We’re chomping at the bit to see what other creative ideas you all come up with.
