#GivingTuesday for EMC

#GivingTuesday is a new-ish holiday tradition we think is brilliant.  After a long weekend of feasting, football and shopping, #GivingTuesday provides an opportunity to give back.  Instead of focusing on all the things we need, #GivingTuesday focuses our attention on all kinds of opportunities to share with those who need us most.  For some families, #GivingTuesday means engaging in specific volunteer opportunities and for others it means opening their checkbooks.  We love hearing all the creative ways people are opening their hearts this holiday season and, of course, we’re offering our own opportunity to use #GivingTuesday as a way to support mothers. 

As you’re choosing how you’ll celebrate #GivingTuesday and cyber-shopping for the perfect gift to give someone who has everything, think about mothers who have nothing – not even the basic medical and hygiene supplies they need to give birth safely.  This #GivingTuesday, help EMC buy those supplies by donating to our Mozilla Firefox Challenge page here.  Each $22 donation buys a birthing kit for a mother in Uganda.  The non-profit organization that  wins this challenge receives $30,000.  In addition to the amount purchased by our supporters, that $30,000 could buy 1364 additional birthing kits.  For mothers who have nothing, this gift could mean the difference between having a safe birth and becoming a statistic.  This #GivingTuesday, give a gift that could mean the difference between life and death.
