Christy, Anderson and Mozilla

Last Sunday, Christy appeared on “Sharing the Spotlight,” Anderson Cooper’s pre-show lead up to the CNN Heroes Awards.  You might remember this awards show was a pretty big deal for us last year when Christy was one of the presenters and Robin Lim was the winner.  Robin was also the recipient of last year’s Mozilla Firefox Challenge and the $17,000 you helped us raise went to support building her new birth center in Indonesia.

We think Christy totally rocked her interview with Anderson, who seemed genuinely shocked by the statistics we talk about all the time – Statistics like:

  • 287,000 women die in childbirth every year and 90% of those deaths are preventable.
  • In the US two women die every day and African American women are four times more likely to die in childbirth than women of other races.

We want to say, “Thank you” to Anderson for helping us to get the word out that - here it is 2012 and mothers still die in childbirth.  And we want to thank you for helping us win the Mozilla Firefox Challenge this year through your donations. Your funds will help us save mothers lives by providing women in Uganda “Mama kits” containing the delivery supplies they need during childbirth.

If you didn’t get to see Christy’s interview, we'll be in touch when it becomes available on YouTube.
