Team Run EMC is heading to Tanzania to break down one of the greatest barriers to maternal health. And, you can be a part of it.
On March 1st, EMC founder, Christy Turlington Burns, ultra-marathoners, Scott and Jenny Jurek, and a team of dedicated EMC supporters, will run the Kilimanjaro Half and Full Marathon in Tanzania to break down one of the greatest barriers women face when accessing the maternal healthcare they need — distance.
Here’s how you can get involved:
This race, like all races Team EMC participates in, puts an emphasis on the fact that many women in rural areas will walk 5k to access basic obstetric care, and often as far as 35k to reach emergency care — even when 9 months pregnant and in labor.
In addition to running the marathon, the group will have the opportunity to participate in daily runs and nutrition workshops led by Christy, Scott & Jenny, as well as learn from healthcare workers in Tanzania about global maternal health issues.
If you, or any runners you know might be interested in running with us to improve maternal health, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. * Please note that we have a limited number of spots available.
Not a runner? You can also support our runners here. 100% of the funds raised will directly fund our grants that improve access to critical maternal health care.
