A Mother’s Day Letter From Christy

I know that many of you share my belief that every day is Mother’s Day because women become mothers every day of the year and once a mother, always a mother.

This month we are celebrating #WhatIsPossible, a campaign that focuses on all that we can do to improve maternal health and reduce maternal mortality.

This Mother’s Day, and every day, 800 women will die from almost entirely preventable pregnancy and childbirth-related conditions. Now it’s time to change that conversation to #WhatIsPossible. The good news is, we know how to save most of these lives. Becoming a mother should be an empowering experience yet for millions of women it’s not. Motherhood should be celebrated and rewarded because it is one of the most important jobs there is. What is possible? A world where every mother is valued, supported and cared for. A world where women and men share equal status and where healthcare is accessible to all, no matter your gender, economic status, race, religion or country.

We know it’s possible because, with your support, we’ve already come a long way and because of you this year more moms will be celebrating Mother’s Day.
