Meet Genevieve Reid, MD, Montana

Dr. Reid discusses the challenges women face when living in rural areas and the frustrations physicians face dealing with malpractice insurance.

Genevieve Reid, MD is a family practice physician and board certified in obstetrics in Livingston, Montana. She struggles to provide the best quality care to her patients, many of whom live long distances from the hospital where she delivers. She’s frustrated that malpractice insurers, not physicians, hold the reins on how obstetrics is practiced and which services she can offer her patients. Reid says, “Many women living in rural areas don’t have easy access to healthcare either for clinics for prenatal care or hospitals for delivery care. They often face drives of two hours or more to reach healthcare facilities that offer the delivery services they want, like VBAC.”
