Our U.S. Grantee Partners

Our strategy in the United States

We support community-based organizations in the Unites States that are working to improve access to quality, respectful, and equitable maternity care, and address the maternal health crisis in this country.

Despite spending more money per capita than any other country in the world on maternity care, the U.S. ranks a shocking 66th in maternal deaths. It is the only high-resource nation with a consistently rising maternal mortality rate, and disparities are rampant. As of 2024, over 5.5 million women in the United States live in areas with limited or no access to maternity care services.

Most maternal deaths in the U.S. can be prevented with timely access to quality, respectful, and equitable care. Our work focuses on investing in and expanding access to community-based and culturally relevant models that are proven to lead to excellent outcomes and compassionate, respectful experiences of care, including midwifery and community-based doula care.
